A lovely day trip to Petite France and Nami Island (Namiseom) in Korea.

Although Petite France Village and Nami Island are known as some of the most popular travel destinations in Korea, it’s not easy to get around these places when you actually want to visit, especially if you are a foreign traveler without a vehicle to move around freely.

One of the best and the most convenient ways to reach these places is to sign up for a tour available out there. These tours include a round-trip transportation and admission tickets together, which makes your trip easy and hassle-free.

▶ Seoul →  Petite France

To visit two of my favorite destinations in Korea, Nami Island and Petite France, I joined this one-day tour on Trazy.com.

There are 3 different options for departure: Hongik University Station, Myeongdong station and Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station.

It took me about 90 mins from Seoul to Petite France Village with the shuttle bus.
On the way to the main gate of the Petite France, I could see the map of the whole village.nami-petite-one-day-review-(3)nami-petite-one-day-review-(2)You can get a map in Korean, English, Chinese and Taiwanese here at the ticket booth. It’s better to get this map to look around the village more efficiently.
Like its name, Petite France is a small but exotic French-themed village. You can see both the small Tower Eiffel and lots of French style houses (you can also book one of the houses on the website of the Petite France to stay overnight).nami-petite-one-day-review-(5)And there is a nice view of Lake Cheongpyeong when you reach the right side of the village where the restaurant and cafe are located.nami-petite-one-day-review-(20)The main theme of Petite France comes from the famous French novel “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint Exupery. So you can see many things related to the little prince. There is also a Memorial Hall for him.nami-petite-one-day-review-(19)And if you like Korean drama, then it must be very interesting to look around here. Lots of famous dramas were filmed here (Beethoven Virus, Secret Garden, and My Love from the Star). There are a lot of props that were used in the dramas and also you can see real autographs of the actors and actresses.nami-petite-one-day-review-(18)There is also a photo zone where you can take pictures becoming Kim Soo-hyun and Jeon Ji-hyun.nami-petite-one-day-review-(21)nami-petite-one-day-review-(23)There are a lot of nice photo zones or spots where you can take memorable pictures even if you are not that interested in K-drama.nami-petite-one-day-review-(24)There are a variety of places to visit inside the village including their own exclusive theater for marionette, cafes, restaurant and outdoor places to have a cup of coffee, eat and take a rest.nami-petite-one-day-review-(17)nami-petite-one-day-review-(15)In Petite France, there are shops where you can buy pretty French-style dishes and plates, but if you think they are too heavy to take home, I recommend you to get some souvenirs like postcards and orgel at the gift shops in Petite France – they are lightweight and very charming!

▶ Petite France → Nami Island

After spending some time at Petite France, our tour group headed to Nami Island, which took about 20 minutes.

When we arrived at Gapyeong Wharf, the staff gave me the ticket for the ferry.

Around the wharf, there are many ‘Dakgalbi (Chicken Barbecue which is famous in Chuncheon)’ restaurants that you can try like below. On Nami Island, there are many restaurants and cafes but it’s a bit more pricey.

All of us took the ferry to Nami Island which takes about 5 minutes. But you can also go to Nami Island by a zip-wire (It costs around $40).nami-petite-one-day-review-(13)When you get off the ferry, you can find a supermarket near the gate where you can buy snacks and drinks.

When walked a little bit more from the gate, I reached the Unicef Child-friendly Park where people were preparing for singing performance. There were rest areas so I took a seat and listened to the live performance.
There are also many leisure activities like riding a bike or you can also take a small train where you can easily look around Nami Island. So I could see lots of families and couples who were enjoying the ride together.

And pets are allowed on Nami Island so you can see and bring pets also. (But in the case of Petite France, pets are not allowed.)

nami-petite-one-day-review-(9)Nami Island first became popular because of the famous Korean drama, “Winter Sonata (겨울연가, 2002)”. You can see the bench where Bae Yong-Joon and Choi Ji-Woo played with a snowman.nami-petite-one-day-review-(12)And nearby the Winter Sonata scene spot, there is a field where you can meet the famous ostrich named ‘Ggangta’.nami-petite-one-day-review-(14)One of the highlights not to be missed in Nami Island is the beautiful Metasequoia Road. There are several beautiful tree-lined paths on the island and this one from the photo above is the nearest one from the entrance.

Also, there are many small and big museums so you can wander around wherever you want. There’s also a camping site and shower facility.nami-petite-one-day-review-(25)Overall, I think this is a great tour for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and see the best attractions not too far from Seoul.

Not that Petite France and Nami Island are some of my favourite tourist destinations in Korea, but I find this tour package extremely convenient honestly.

I did not have to figure out the transportation to get to these two destinations and go through a hassle of buying the tickets at every point! It totally saved my time and work.

If Nami Island and Petite France are on your list, I definitely recommend you to take this tour! 😉
