Which Ski Resort Was Korean Drama “Goblin” Filmed at?

Who’s been watching “Goblin” or “Goblin: The Lonely and Great God“, the hottest and newest Korean drama around? If you are not watching it, you are missing out big time!

Starring Gong Yoo, Lee Dong-wook, Kim Go-eun and Yoo In-na, the drama is currently airing on Korean cable channel called tvN on Fridays and Saturdays. Dominating both domestically in South Korea and internationally, “Goblin” has even broken the record of “Signal” in overall viewership ratings!goblin poster.jpgFor those who have not been following this drama, it is a romance-thriller drama about an immortal goblin (Gong Yoo) who is a protector of souls looking for his bride (Kim Go-eun) who can end his immortality and let him rest in peace. He also lives with a grim reaper (Lee Dong-Wook) who is in charge of taking deceased souls.

And for fans of Goblin, here we bring you one of its filming locations, Yongpyong Ski Resort from Episode 9, which is a must-visit spot for all K-drama enthusiasts!

Being the most popular K-drama these days, the ski resort is seeing a huge popularity as well.Yongpyong.jpgFYI, Yongpyong Resort is the largest ski resort in South Korea and it is also the main venue for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
yongpyong 2.jpg

Now, let’s follow in the footsteps of Goblin at Yongpyong Ski Resort!

#1 Dragon Plaza – Eun-tak’s new hidden workplace

ski rental area.jpgIn episode 9, Eun-tak works at a lodge in the ski resort after fleeing Shin’s (Gong Yoo) home upon finding out the tragic truth about the sword in his body and how pulling it out will end his immortality. Thanks to Deok-hwa (Yook Sung-jae), Shin finally manages to locate Eun-tak.

The two end up reuniting and reconciling as they confirm each other’s feelings toward each other. Though it’s good that they both love each other, it is also tragic as their fate is that one of them has to die for the other to live (sob!).ski equipment rental.jpgThe lodge where Eun-tak works is the rental shop on the 1st floor of Dragon Plaza.

#2 Dragon Peak & The Sky Garden – Site of the romantic back hug

back hug.jpgDid you ever wonder where the back hug scene was taken? It’s when Shin finally confesses his feelings to Eun-tak and gives her a back hug against this amazingly beautiful backdrop, the Dragon Peak Sky Garden.

Try to drop by this garden when you visit Yongpyong Resort. It’s indeed the perfect place to go with a special someone and maybe even recreate the scene!dragon-peakYou will also find Dragon Peak, a traditional Swiss-style building housing a coffee shop, Korean restaurant and steakhouse next to the garden, which is a great place for visitors and skiers to take a rest. Nothing like a hot drink and some delicious food when it’s freezing cold!

To add, the garden is surrounded by white, powdery snow and is the starting point to the walk to the peak of Balwangsan Mountain, the 13th highest mountain in South Korea.

Here, you will be able to take in the breathtaking view of the snow-covered mountains and a forest full of yew trees that can live for 1000 years! No wonder why Goblin chooses this spot as the backdrop for the scene! 😉

#3 Dragon Peak Gondola – Shin & Eun-tak’s heart melting eye contact

As she rides, Eun-tak lights up a match to summon Shin who, to her disappoint, doesn’t show up. Or so she thinks.

As she approaches the area to alight from the gondola, she lights up with a smile on her face as she sees Shin, waiting for her with his hand extended towards her. Well, this was another scene that made our hearts melt, seeing how lovingly they both gaze at each other.

The gondola that Eun-tak rides is actually one of the best-known attractions in Yongpyong Resort. It boasts a 3.7 km-long ride, one of Asia’s longest, and offers magnificent views of surrounding landscapes.

Didn’t all the scenes from the episode make you want to visit this place? Then go and follow the footsteps of Goblin (and maybe find your own good-looking goblin) at this awesome ski resort in Korea!

Join our one-day trip if you want to visit Yongpyong Ski Resort hassle-free here. Who knows, maybe you’ll even find your own special someone there.
